RVA Historic Trolley Tour
Whether you were raised in Richmond or are visiting or just passing through, you will travel through a rich narrative of 400 years of history in one of the most fascinating and oldest cities in America. See the sights and learn about Richmond’s landmarks, riverfront, architecture and history. We offer tours aboard our classic trolley with cushioned seats, intricate seat frameworks, and social rather than traditional bus seating.
Hop On, Stand Up Comedy Brewery Tour
On the third Friday of each month, roll through the river city’s unique beer scene aboard Richmond’s only mobile comedy club! Three comics perform during transit to three breweries throughout Richmond. Enjoy a night of laughing and libations with the best local beer and comedy that RVA offers.
Hollywood Cemetery Tour
Hear about duels until the 1880s, “Extra Billy” Smith and his role in the Civil War and later as Governor of Virginia. Learn of Lewis Ginter who built the Jefferson Hotel and how he became the force behind the marketing of tobacco. Loaded with Civil War history and notables including J.E.B Stuart and George Pickett, hear the part this cemetery played in creating a national holiday- Memorial Day. An amazing place of serenity and tremendous beauty including spectacular views of both the river and the city, Hollywood is a must for any visitor or local.
One of our trolleys is a red Chance trolley, which is similar to the way to the trolleys looked in the early 1920s. It can easily seat 24 with standing room for another 8-10. It includes cushioned seats, an option for radio, and good factory air conditioning for all those hot, humid summer days in Richmond. It has social seating, unlike bus seating whereby everyone faces forward, and is much more intimate. The seat frames are intricate ironworks, again very similar to the look in the early 1900s. It has a cow catcher on the front and a great trolley bell! The second trolley is a green Chance trolley much like aforementioned, but slightly smaller. It will seat 20, with standing room for 10 and contains the same social seating with cushioned seats, radio and air conditioning. The defining feature of this trolley is a unique bridal perch on the back, which is perfect for photos and the grand entrances and exits to and from your wedding. RVA Trolley and our sister companies, Segway of Richmond and Pedego RVA specialize in customer service with friendly employees willing and able to help realize your dreams for your wedding day or any other special events for you and your friends, family, or coworkers!

Q: Where do I meet the trolley??
A: There are two locations to pick up the trolley. The first stop is 1301 E. Cary Street, our store, and the second stop is the Richmond Visitor Center at 405 N. 3rd Street
Q: What time should I be there for my trolley tour?
A: Please arrive at either location 15 minutes before the tour departs to allow time for check-in and allow for 10-15 minutes to find a parking spot. If the trolley is already parked outside, make sure someone in your group comes into the RVA on Wheels building to check in.
Q: Is there parking
A: The Cary Street location has a number of parking garages within a block of the store. Please allow at least 10-15 minutes to find parking. You can find a parking garage at 12th St. across from the Omni Hotel, one on Virginia Street just off of Cary St., and another at the intersection 14th St. and Cary St. (If your vehicle is too tall for a garage there is a parking lot across from Main Street Station.) The Visitor Center location has a parking garage right across the street. We do not recommend street parking, as it is 2-hour parking and if you arrive 15 minutes early, your parking time will exceed 2 hours. On the weekends you can park on the street without worrying about the 2 hour limit.
Q: What if it’s raining
A: The trolley is fully enclosed so our tours run regularly in the rain.
Q: Are tips included in the price?/Do we tip the guide?
A: Tips are not included in the price of the ticket. They are not required or expected but certainly appreciated if you enjoyed the tour.
"We have lived in Richmond for 13 years now and Saturday was the first time we took this tour. Our guide was personable and knowledgeable. She had done quite a bit of research on her own, and she added those learned tidbits to our tour. She has inspired us to get out and explore and learn more about the city and it's history. This is a great tour to introduce your out of town guest to Richmond. The tour was about 2 hours. In that time we went from one end of Richmond to the other. We had used a groupon coupon for our fare. But I have to say, even without a coupon the fare will be worth the experience."

"We took the Grim tales and Ghost tour Friday night. We had a great tour. The host was very knowledgeable of the area and told great stories about the buildings you drive by all the time and don't have a clue about their significance. "

"Great guide and expert driver. Everyone on the trolley had a good time with all the highlights of the Richmond area on full display. Well worth the time for visitors and native Richmonders alike"
"We hired RVA Trolley to provide transportation for our wedding guests to/from our ceremony/reception as well as to separately drive our wedding party around downtown Richmond for photos after our ceremony. All of their drivers were incredibly professional, on-time, and stuck to our decided upon routes. Hendley, our coordinator, was easy to work with, prompt with communication, and able to answer all of our questions. The trolleys definitely added a personal touch to our wedding and provided a great photo opportunity for our party and guests alike. While driving around on the cobblestones downtown wasn't the most comfortable, this unique experience is something we are definitely glad we pursued and would highly recommend to anyone else for events in the RVA area.
